This is a growing list of contributors from across the City of Edmonton.
Ailish O’Connor
Ailish is a Strategic Coordinator in the General Manager’s Office in Asset Management and Public Works. Part of her job is to represent the department on various committees, including the one coordinating the 2010 Good Neighbour Awards.
Aryn Machell
Aryn is an engineer with the Transportation Planning Branch at the City of Edmonton. His work includes strategic policy development, planning of sidewalks and bike paths, and encouraging people to drive alone less.
Ashley Casovan
Ashley is a Public Information Officer for the City of Edmonton’s Communications Branch. She loves getting paid to write, and spends her spare time exploring and volunteering in her community.
Barry Anderson
Barry chaired the Local Host Committee for the 2009 ICLEI World Congress and is the Manager of the Environment Branch, Deputy City Manager’s Office, City of Edmonton. Barry will be retiring from the City at the end of 2009 and extends his appreciation to the volunteers, agencies and staff who contributed to make the congress such a great success and encourages them to continue in their efforts to improve Edmonton as a sustainable City.
Chris Moore
Chris is the Chief Information Officer at the City of Edmonton. He provides leadership over the City’s information and technology services, solutions and strategy. Chris has spent over 26 years in the Information Technology industry focusing on Customer Relationship Management, Business Strategy, Consulting and Professional Services.
Chris is a member of the Conference Board of Canada’s Council of Chief Information Officers and is also a member of SAP’s Global Public Sector Advisory Council. He enjoys giving back to his community in various ways and is currently vice chair operations for the 2010 Canadian Country Music awards in Edmonton.
Colin Beddoes
Colin (MEDes) is an environmental design (planning) professional who employs an interdisciplinary approach to planning for environmental, social, and economic challenges. He has worked in areas ranging from remote site life support services, land use planning, environmental monitoring and energy-efficiency. Colin’s Canadian and international life and work experience has informed his involvement in innovative and resilient local economic development strategies.
David Holdsworth
David is one of the two Heritage Planners with the City’s Planning and Development Department managing the Historic Resources Management Program. His time mostly spent trying to persuade others to save or successfully incorporate their heritage structures when new development pressures arise.
Devin Serink
Devin works in the Information Technology branch at the City of Edmonton. Devin Serink is best described like this: 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, 55, 89, 144, … Little known fact: he once miraculously escaped from a completely sealed box containing a cat and a flask of poison. The status of the cat is still unknown.
Dot Laing
Dot (MA (Phys. Ed), AFLCA Trainer and Certified Exercise Physiologist) has many years of health, wellness, and fitness experience and feels very fortunate to be living her passion everyday at work and at play! Currently, Dot works for the City of Edmonton and coordinates the Active Edmonton program; a health promotion resource that helps Edmontonians to Get Up, Get Out, and Get Active!
Graeme McElheran
Graeme is a Communications Officer with the City of Edmonton’s LRT Design & Construction Branch. He creates and coordinates communications for LRT projects
James Hoffman
James is an engineering student at the University of Alberta and the Policy Chair for the city of Edmonton Youth Council. In his free time he enjoys unicycling, film-making, and attempting to rid the world of trans fats.
Laura McNabb
Laura has lived and worked in the Alberta Capital Region for just over 20 years, and is currently the Communications Advisor for Transportation/Capital Construction with the City of Edmonton.
Lyndia Peters
Lyndia is the Youth Council Coordinator extraordinaire not to mention an avid baker, traveler and list-maker. She loves yoga and the sound of young people being active citizens but decidedly hates pickles.
Malika and Rabia Ladha
Malika Ladha is a first year student in the Faculty of Science at the University of Alberta and Rabia Ladha is in grade 11 at Jasper Place High School. Both started to volunteer at a young age and serve as members of the City of Edmonton Youth Council.
Marilyn Kontz
Marilyn is a volunteer with Next Gen’s Engage working group, helping to build the city she wants to live in. She is a returned Edmontonian who, when not volunteering, works on interactive media and custom eLearning.
Mark Brostrom
Mark is the Director of the Office of Environment.
Mary-Ann Thurber
Mary-Ann is a Communications Officer with the City of Edmonton. She provides support to the Environment Branch.
Mike Mellross
Mike is currently a Senior Environmental Project Manager in the Office of Environment. He has worked in the environmental field for over 15 years and he has an academic background in Environmental Sciences, Water Pollution Studies, and Natural Sciences. Mike started his career at the City of Edmonton five years ago as an Environmental Manager for the Fleet Services Branch.
Raffaella Loro
Raffaella works with the Communications Team to coordinate the Transforming Edmonton Blog and the City’s other social media projects.
Robert Moyles
Robert is the Director of Strategic Communications at City of Edmonton. He will be a regular contributor on communications, transparency, media relations, and how these contribute to the six goals of the Strategic Plan.
Sean Mitra
Sean is the current Chair of the City of Edmonton Youth Council. In addition to his work with the Youth Council, Sean is studying at the University of Alberta, and is fond of video games, Kung Fu, and long fight scenes on the beach.
Tai Munro
Tai is the Residential Coordinator for the City’s CO2RE (Carbon Dioxide Reduction Education) Program.
Tegan Martin-Drysdale
Tegan is a community volunteer with the NextGen Steering Committee. She graduated from the University of Alberta with a BSc in Civil Engineering in 2002, and moved to Calgary shortly after to pursue a career in the commercial/residential building industry. Recently returned to Edmonton, Tegan is currently working for a developer in the downtown area. She is fascinated by the idea of sustainable communities and the wave of “eco-design” that is starting to shape the future of our global community. She has always wanted to make a difference in her own backyard, and is very excited to be a part of the Next Gen Committee.

Tyler is an engineer with the Transportation Planning Branch at the City of Edmonton.
Xanthe Couture
Xanthe is a volunteer with Edmonton’s NextGen Committee. When she’s not helping to organize Pecha Kucha events in the city she’s working towards equal access to education, political and citizen engagement and global networks.
